About us
PowerPriceNow is an independent, free website for checking electricity and fuel prices using official data.
Who is behind it
The site is run by Pedro López de la Reina García Cervigón from La Solana (Ciudad Real, Spain), who also runs ComparadorTarifaLuz.es, our sister site about electricity in Spain. We do not sell electricity or fuel and are not part of any energy company, oil company, filling station or public body.
Where the data comes from
- Electricity prices: day-ahead market prices from ENTSO-E, and from Bundesnetzagentur | SMARD.de via Energy-Charts.
- Prices at each filling station: prix-carburants.gouv.fr, Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica, DGEG – Preços dos Combustíveis Online. These are the prices each station reports to those bodies.
- Average fuel prices by country: the European Commission's weekly Oil Bulletin.
- Maps and routes: OpenStreetMap, OSRM (FOSSGIS) and GeoNames.
How often it is updated
The site updates itself several times a day with whatever those sources publish, and each page shows the date of its data. All figures are for guidance: at a filling station the price on the pump applies, and for electricity, the terms of your contract.
How it is funded
The site is free, needs no registration and is funded by Google AdSense advertising. Advertisers have no say in which prices are shown or in what order. More in our legal notice and privacy policy.
